For the last 10 years we have had the same mobile interfaces.
The following is a lecture I lead at SVA that helps teach students how to innovate and improve digital experiences by reinforcing their own observations, identifying key contextual behaviors, and rapid lo-fi iteration.
The talk is a thematic walkthrough of key events (and products) in the evolution of product design and UX; featuring both physical and digital touchpoints.
As an assignment, each student then sketches out 2 initial concepts to bring to a peer review. Students are given time to break down their thinking about their creations, and then discuss the level of complexity (as perceived by the class), working towards the simplest experience possible.
